SRH vs RR, IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad had a record-breaking season in 2024 in terms of batting firepower. They were crossing 250 or more for fun. Something similar was expected of them in the first game of the IPL 2025, and they didn’t disappoint. The Orange Army faces Rajasthan Royals in their opening game and went on to register the second highest total in IPL history.
It was once again carnage from the start as SRH batters carried the momentum from the last season. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave them a firing start, and then Ishan Kishan, who was making his debut for SRH, went on to hit a century. The Southpaw slammed a 45-ball ton and helped SRH reach a mammoth total of 286/6 in 20 overs. It was a run feast in Hyderabad, and a number of big records tumbled in the evening.
IPL 2025: SRH registered the second highest IPL total of 286/6 with Ishan Kishan smashing a 45-ball ton
Sunrisers Hyderabad came in mood of smashing all records and they did to some extent. They had a flying start as Abhishek Sharma (24 off 11) and Travis Head added 45 runs in just three overs. After Abhishek got out, Ishant Kishan took the charger. Head continued the approach and slammed 67 runs off just 31 balls, with nine fours and three sixes.
Innings Break!@SunRisers register the second-highest total in #TATAIPL history putting up 286/6 on the board 😮🔥
On the other hand, Ishan was looking for a mission and slammed a 45-ball century. He became the first Indian batter to score a century for SRH in the IPL. He finished with 106 off 47 balls, with six sixes and 11 fours. SRH ended with 286/6 in 20 overs, which is the second highest total in the IPL. The highest total also belongs to SRH, which is 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024.
With this, SRH also became the first team in T20s to cross the 250-run mark four times in history. It wasn’t a great day for RR bowlers as they were taken for cleaners. Especially, Jofra Archer, who was making his return for RR, went on to register the most expensive bowling spell in IPL history. He went for 76 in his four overs without taking a wicket. It was a record-breaking innings, and it will be challenging to see how RR respond to this massive total.
