RR vs RCB: Finally, the streak has come to an end. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won six consecutive matches to qualify for the playoffs, has suffered a defeat, and it has come at a crucial juncture in the Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals at Narendra Modi Stadium. With this, all the hopes and dreams of RCB and their fans have ended.
It was the first knockout game of the playoffs on Wednesday. The toss went in favor of RR as Sanju Samson asked RCB to bat first. Faf du Plessis couldn’t do well this time around and got out cheaply for 17 runs. Virat Kohli also played a few shots but got out at the wrong time.
Cameron Green (27 off 21) and Rajat Patidar (34 off 22) added a small partnership, but they also got out. RCB kept losing wickets and finished the first innings at 172/8, which was a below-par score as per the condition. Chasing the score, RR had a 46-run opening stand.
RCB picked up a few wickets in the middle, but Rajasthan were making sure that they were adding small partnerships in the middle. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag played good knocks under pressure and kept RR in the game.
In the end, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell played brilliant cameos to seal the deal for Rajasthan Royals. RR reached 174/6 in 19 overs, and Powell finished the chase with a win. With this, RR have now qualified for Qualifier 2, where they will play Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 24, and RCB’s season has ended here.

There were a few good contributions in the match from both teams with the bat and the ball. But in the end, it was Avesh Khan who won the Fantasy Player of the Match award. He went for 36 runs in his first 13 balls. But he ended up taking 3/44 and collecting 81 fantasy points.

It was not easy to choose the Player of the Match because there were some good performances from RR Camp. But the award was given to Ravichandran Ashwin, who bowled an exceptional spell of 2/19 in the middle overs. He dismissed Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell on consecutive deliveries to put RR on top in the first inning. As a result, he won the Man of the Match award.

It was a must-win game for both teams. RR won an important toss and put RCB to bat first. Bengaluru couldn’t get a good start, and they kept losing wickets in the middle. With some useful knocks, RCB reached the score of 172/8.
