Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who started his IPL journey with Chennai Super Kings, is back with CSK for the IPL 2025 season after playing for Rajasthan Royals in previous editions. Ashwin was signed by CSK for ₹9.75 Crore in the auction and is once again donning the yellow jersey where he made his name in the league. He has been a key figure in the tournament over the years, thanks to his smart variations, control in the powerplay, and experience.
In IPL 2024, Ashwin struggled to find his rhythm while playing for RR. He featured in 15 matches, picked up just 9 wickets at a high average of 51.89, and an economy rate of 8.49. His best figures were 3/24, and overall he had a quiet season both with the ball and bat.
However, in IPL 2025, Ashwin has shown glimpses of improvement. He has played 4 matches for CSK so far and taken 3 wickets with a best of 1/22. His economy rate is still on the higher side at 9.23, but CSK will hope he brings his experience to the fore against his former side PBKS, where he once led the team.
