The new season of the Indian Premier league has kickstarted a few days ago and the cricket enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the tournament to witness some of the greatest and most thrilling encounters ever recorded in the history of cricket. Like other dominant overseas cricket playing nations, New Zealand has had a rich history of contributing to the Indian Premier league over the years.Â
From veteran cricketers participating in the tournament and making a strong impact with both the bat and the ball, there have been numerous cricketers who have found their place of participation in the tournament as the team’s head coaches or mentors.
As of now seven Kiwi cricketers are participating in the 17th season of the Indian Premier league while few veteran New Zealand cricketers like Stephen Fleming and Daniel Vettori are involved with title winning teams like Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad as the franchise’s head coach.

1. Rachin Ravindra

The young New Zealand all-rounder is the latest addition to the Indian Premier league as he was bought in the mini IPL 2025 auction by the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. Rachin has performed the perfect role of an opening batsmen while replacing the team’s former opener and New Zealand cricketer Devon Conway.
In the two matches he has played for Chennai Super Kings, Rachin Ravindra has smashed 83 runs with a whopping strike rate of 237.14. The New Zealand all-rounder is yet to make his debut in the IPL as a bowler however the team franchise has affirmed the possibility of Ravindra bowling in the upcoming matches of IPL 2025
2. Devon ConwayÂ

Devon Conway is a top-order New Zealand batter who is rejoining the Chennai Super Kings campaign in IPL 2025. He previously represented CSK in 2022 and 2023 after his debut. Staying unavailable in 2023 due to an injury, CSK missed his classy batting as changing the gears during batting suit him. Also, he can adjust his batting style according to the condition of the match. Devon Conway has played 50 T20Is for New Zealand and scored 1408 runs at an average of 38.05 and a massive strike rate of 127.76.
Devon Conway was ruled out of IPL 2024 after sustaining a thumb injury. He was selected in CSK in place of England player Richard Gleeson in 2022. Devon Conway has been featured in 23 IPL matches and summed up his innings with 924 runs while staying with CSK in his previous two IPL editions.
3. Bevon JacobsÂ
Bevon Jacobs has roots in New Zealand as a middle-order batter with hitting power who is signed by the Mumbai Indians yet again for IPL 2025 after being in the MI squad last year. He has not yet played an international match for New Zealand, despite being selected in the national cricket tet team for a couple of T20 matches against Sri Lanka. In domestic cricket, he plays for Auckland. His first century in first-class cricket was witnessed when he batted in the middle order in Auckland team playing against Central Districts as he smashed 157 runs in the first inning. This century came after the previous two half-centuries.
Bevon Jacobs is an emerging talent for the Mumbai Indians, as the team will feature him in his debut match. In the previous season, he was not picked up in the playing XI. On the domestic circuit, he has experience playing T20 matches; in his first fixture for Canterbury Kings, he scored 42 off 20 balls in December 2023.
4. Lockie Ferguson

After participating for three different IPL team franchises, Lockie Ferguson recently found solace in Royal Challengers Bengaluru picking him in the IPL 2025 auction. Ferguson began his IPL journey with Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017 and played the majority of his IPL career for Kolkata Knight Riders from 2019-21 and 2023. He also represented Gujarat Titans in the team’s debut season 2022.
Lockie Ferguson is yet to make his debut for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025 and is awaiting his maiden call in the Playing XI. In the 38 matches the pacer has played in the IPL, he has registered 37 dismissals at a bowling average of 31.65 and an economy of 8.66.
5. Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner is an experienced New Zealand bowling all-rounder who was associated with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier league since 2019. In IPL 2025, he will be featuring with the Mumbai Indians, as the franchise bought him at a whopping price of INR 2 crore. Despite participating in his sixth season in the IPL, the bowling all-rounder has received relatively fewer opportunities to showcase his talent in the cricket league.
In the 18 games he has played in the Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings, Mitchell Santner has sent back 15 batsmen back to the dugout with a low economy of 6.92. Santner is yet to play his first match of the IPL 2025 season.
6. Trent Boult

New Zealand’s renowned pacer Trent Boult has been a part of five IPL team franchises over the years and has actively participated for every team. After spending time in Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, Trent Bould currently plays for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 after the franchise buying him at a whopping price of INR 12.50 crore.
In the 104 games he has played in the Indian Premier league for different teams, the New Zealand pacer has sent back 121 batsmen back to the dugout while delivering the average of 26.69 with an economy of 8.29. Boult has also registered a four wicket haul in the IPL and has the best figures of 4/18.
7. Glenn Phillips

The young Kiwi All-Rounder was recently introduced in the IPL in 2021 as he debuted for the Rajasthan Royals. However, Phillips was dropped from the team just after one season and picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023 auction. Again, his track has been changed as the Gujarat Titans bought him ahead of IPL 2025. Glenn Phillips has not yet played a fiery knock in the IPL.
In the eight matches he has played in the Indian Premier League, Glenn Phillips has managed to score only 65 runs with an average of 9.29, along with registering two dismissals, which is successively low for an overseas batsman.
