1. 106 by RCB vs CSK IPL 2013

The Royal Challengers Bangalore holds the defending the lowest score of 106/2 in the IPL history. The RCB scored a total of 106 runs in 8 during a rain-affected one-sided match against CSK in the IPL 2013. Albeit the Chennai Super Kings failed to achieve the target and only scored 82 for the loss of six wickets and lost the match. The RCB won by 24 runs and Virat Kohli was rewarded with IPL Player of the Match for his knock of 56* off 29 deliveries.   

2. 106 by PBKS vs RCB IPL 2015

The second position is held by the Punjab Kings (former Kings XI Panjab) for the lowest total defended successfully in an IPL. In 2015 the Panjab Kings (former KXIP) posted 106 runs in 10 overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, RCB got dismissed for just 84 runs losing the match by 22 runs. Apart from Mandeep Singh, not a single RCB batter touched the 20 runs. On the other hand, Punjab Kings allrounder Axar Patel who scored not out 20 off just 15 balls became the Player of the match.   

3. 116 by CSK vs PBKS IPL 2009

Technically speaking, Chennai Super Kings holds the lowest score defended in IPL for 20 overs. In the IPL 2009, the CSK only posted a total score of 116/9 with the help of Parthiv Patel scoring 32 runs off 23 balls. Despite being the lowest target, Panjab Kings only scored 92/8 runs in 20 overs and failed to achieve it. MS Dhoni and team CSK celebrated the victory over the PBKS (former KXIP) and won by 24 runs. 

4. 118 by SRH vs MI IPL 2018

The 4th rank is held by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the lowest scores defended in IPL history. The Risers achieved this feat in the 2018 IPL season against the Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai Indians bowlers including Bumrrah, McClenaghan, and Pandya made it difficult for the Sunrisers Hyderabad to maintain the strike rate. However, SRH batters somehow managed to score 118 runs in 18.4 overs. In response to the target, the MI looked stressed from the beginning of the 2nd innings. All credit goes to SRH bowlers Siddarth Kaul (3 wickets), Rashid Khan (2 wickets), and Basil Thampi (2 wickets) who saved the match. The Sunrisers won by 31 runs and defeated the Mumbai Indians.   

5. 119 by PBKS vs MI IPL 2009

Last but not least Punjab Kings (former Kings XI Punjab), defended their lowest 119 target successfully against Mumbai Indians in the 2009 IPL season. The MI death bowl specialist Lasith Malinga, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, and Bravo did not let the Punjab batters maintain the strike. Albeit Kumar Sangakkara scored 45 runs on 44 balls and contributed in 119/8 to the Mumbai Indians. 

Despite being legendary batters like Tendulkar, Bravo, and Shikhar Dhawan, Mumbai paltan failed to achieve the target. All credit goes to Punjab bowlers including Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Abdulla who took two wickets each. The PBKS defeated the MI by 3 runs at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.
