1. Most Consecutive Ducks by a batter
Gautam Gambhir is one of the best captains in IPL history. He led them to two titles in 2012 and 2014 and also scored runs consistently as a batter. But Gambhir holds an unwanted record of three consecutive ducks by a batter. It came in 2014, when he was leading KKR. In three consecutive innings, he played 13 balls but couldn’t buy a single run and registered this unwanted record.
2. Lowest First Inning IPL Total
The lowest IPL total in history is by RCB. They were bowled out for 49 runs against KKR in 2017. Meanwhile, KKR also has the lowest total. They only managed a total of 67 runs in 15.2 overs against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in 2008. This is the overall joint-fifth-lowest IPL score. But it is the lowest IPL score by a team in the first inning. All four of the previous lowest scores came in the second inning.
3. Biggest IPL defeats in terms of balls remaining
Mumbai Indians hold the record for the biggest IPL win in terms of balls remaining in a match. They did it against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2008 edition at Wankhede Stadium. It was the same game when KKR were bowled out for their lowest total of 67 runs in 15.2 overs. MI chased down the score and made 68/2 in just 5.3 overs, winning by 8 wickets and 87 balls to spare. This is the biggest defeat for a team in terms of balls remaining in the IPL.
4. Highest IPL Chase vs KKR
Not just a long time ago, Punjab Kings broke the record for the most successful run chase in IPL history. And they did it against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. KKR posted a massive score of 261/6 in the first inning, with Sunil Narine (71 off 32) and Phil Salt (75 off 37) scoring quick fifties. But they couldn’t defend the total. PBKS made 262/2 in 18.4 overs to script history, with Jonny Bairstow scoring 108 off 48. With this, KKR conceded the highest run chase. In fact, the second-highest IPL chase is also against KKR.
5. Most hat-tricks against a Team
Since 2008, there have been 22 hat-tricks registered in the IPL. Meanwhile, four of these hat-tricks are registered against Kolkata Knight Riders, which is the most against an IPL team. Makhaya Ntini (CSK) in 2008, Pravin Tambe (RR) in 2014, Yuzvendra Chahal (RR) in 2022, and Rashid Khan (GT) in 2023 have taken hat-tricks against KKR in the IPL.
6. Highest First-wicket Partnership against a Team
The highest first-wicket partnership, which is also the third-highest overall IPL stand, is registered by the pair of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock. They did it against KKR in 2022 at DY Patil. Both batters added 210 runs in 20 overs to register the highest opening stand. De Kock scored an unbeaten 140 off 70, which is the third-highest individual score against an IPL team. KL Rahul made 68 not out. KKR lost that game by two runs.
7. Never won a Purple Cap in the IPL
Many big names and bowling stars have played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL over the years. They have also been pretty successful. But it is very strange to know that KKR are the only team among the teams that have been part of the IPL since the start who have not won a Purple Cap, which is given to the highest wicket-taker in a season.
