IPL 2025: CSK vs MI: The first El Clasico of the IPL 2025 proved to be a thriller. It went down to the last over of the game, but eventually, Chennai Super Kings held their nerves and went on to win the game by 4 wickets. With this, Ruturaj Gaikwad and his men started the new season with a win.
MI, who were without captain Hardik Pandya and speedster Jasprit Bumrah, lost yet another first game of the new season. Since 2013, MI have lost all matches that they have played to start the season. CSK dominated the game, but MI came back to the game. But the Yellow Army got over the line, with half-centuries from captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra.
It started with CSK winning the toss and putting MI to bat first. Mumbai Indians lost their top three within the first five overs. Suryakumar Yadav (29 off 26) and Tilak Varma (31 off 25) added 51 runs for the fourth wicket. But they lost a few more wickets. Deepak Chahar played a brilliant cameo of 28* off 15, and MI finished 155/9.
Chasing the score, CSK also lost Rahul Tripathi early, but Ruturaj Gaikwad (52 off 26) and Rachin Ravindra (65* off 45) took CSK close to the target. For MI, debutant Vignesh Puthar took 3/32, but CSK reached the score in 19.1 overs and won with four wickets.

CSK vs MI Fantasy Player of the Game
Noor Ahmad was signed by CSK for a price of INR 10 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, and he proved that he deserved the price. The Afghan leg-spinner bowled a dream spell on his debut and took 4/18 in his four overs. He collected 146 fantasy points and won the Fantasy Player of the Match award, beating Gaikwad (121) and Ravindra (111).

It was a tough wicket to bat on and was a low-scoring thriller. MI hit five sixes, and CSK hit 8 sixes. Rachin Ravindra hit four sixes in his 42-ball fifth. He scored 65 runs off 45 balls at a strike rate of 144.4. Ravindra hit the most sixes and won the Angel One Super Sixes Award.

CSK vs MI: Man of the Match award
Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed a great fifty, and Rachin Ravindra hit the winning six. But it was the Afghan leg spinner Noor Ahmad who won the Man of the Match award. He broke the back of MI’s batting line-up and took 4/18 on his debut for CSK. He dismissed Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Robin Minz, and Naman Dhir, which left MI with not many runs in the first innings. With that, Noor registered the best bowling figure by a CSK spinner against MI.
