Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had a great outing in the last two IPL seasons they have played so far. Making their debut in IPL 2022, LSG made it into the playoffs in their IPL season and in the next season as well. However, they couldn’t go down the line as they lost in the eliminators in both seasons. In IPL 2022, they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 14 runs, while in IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians defeated them by 81 runs made it into the Qualifier 2.
Now LSG will be looking to give one more push in IPL 2024 and clinch the title in their third attempt. LSG had a balanced squad in the previous two editions with KL Rahul as the skipper. However, Rahul had to leave the IPL 2023 season midway after sustaining a hamstring injury while fielding in a game against RCB. In his absence, Krunal Pandya took charge of the captaincy and lead the team well as they were able to qualify for the playoffs. Now, the good news for LSG fans is that KL Rahul is back in the cricketing action and he has been in a good form in a recently ended Asia Cup and ODI series against Australia. Fans will be hoping that he remains fit till IPL 2024 and lead LSG to their maiden IPL title .

LSG Target Players in IPL 2024 (Anticipated)
The LSG squad looks balanced for the upcoming season with some impactful players in every department. In the IPL 2024 auction they might look for a middle order who could accelerate the innings in middle overs and lead to a good finish. This role has been played Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran in IPL 2023. Now inclusion of one more player of such Caliber could make the batting line look more strong. As LSG eye their maiden IPL title, they will be looking to build a strong squad for IPL 2024. But first, LSG had to retain their best players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The players who are likely to get retained are KL Rahul, Krunal Pandya and Kyle Mayers. Along with them, LSG could also retain Mark Wood ahead of the auction. The England fast bowler had an impressive outing in just four matches he played in IPL 2023, where he picked 11 wickets at an average of 11.82 and an economy of 8.13. His best figures include the five-wicket haul against Delhi Capitals. While Kyle Mayers has also been able take advantage of the opportunities in the absence of Quinton de Kock, who joined the team in mid-season due to National Duties.

They could shock the fans by releasing Quinton de Kock from their squad in the upcoming auction. The South African wicketkeeper batter could appear only in four matches in IPL 2023 as he joined the team late due to National duties. In his absence. Kyle Mayers, took full advantage of the opportunity and played a crucial role in giving LSG strong starts as an opening batter. He was given chances ahead of De Kock even when he joined the squad. It looks like that the franchise may go ahead with Mayers and release De Kock from their squad.
