As the fans are speculating about the dates of the second leg of the IPL 2024, it looks like the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir has accidentally revealed the date of the final. Currently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has only released the schedule of the first 21 matches of IPL 2024 from 22nd March to 7th April. The remaining schedule is likely to be announced after the announcement of 2024 General Election dates in India.
After the first schedule was out, the fans started making assumptions for the final of IPL 2024. The final is anticipated to be played at the end of May, but the exact date is yet to be announced by the BCCI. However, before starting their training ahead of IPL 2024, Gambhir addressed KKR players where he said words like ‘On 26th May, we should be there.’ After the video of Gambhir giving speech went viral, the fans kept debating around his statement of 26th May, speculating that the IPL 2024 final could be held on 26th May.

“So everyone needs to follow that one simple path. On 26th May, we should be there giving everything possible, and it starts from today. It’s not gonna start on the 26th. It’s not gonna start on the 23rd,” Gambhir said in a video posted by KKR on social media.
“It starts from today and this is what we want to do. So if we walk the same path and we fight, I’m sure we’re gonna achieve a lot of success. So good luck, guys. Have the freedom. Enjoy yourself. You can ask questions, whether close doors, or in front of everyone. And I can assure you, from a support staff point of view, that we’re gonna be absolutely honest to every one of you. So, good luck,” the KKR mentor further said.
Notably, the IPL 2024 is going to kickstart on 22nd March with an opening match between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Meanwhile, KKR will begin their campaign with the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on 23rd March.
Adding to this, Gautam Gambhir, who led KKR to two titles as a skipper in 2012 and 2014 respectively, will now be seen in a new role in the franchise as he has been appointed as the Mentor of KKR for IPL 2024. After finishing seventh in the points table last year, KKR will now look to lift their third title under the mentorship of Gambhir.
