The start of the IPL 2024 is just 8–9 days away. It will be even bigger and more exciting than the previous 16 editions. The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, will kick off the proceedings with a match on March 22 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium. The IPL 2024 auction saw some game-changing deals, which became history.
Some unexpected players got millions, while some big names ended up getting nothing. Over the years, the teams that have good bowlers have always done well. But with limited players to sign, some brilliant bowlers got overlooked and went unsold. But still, there is hope. Like Shemar Joseph made his way as Mark Wood‘s replacement, there can be some possible return to IPL 2024.
Bowlers who can return to the IPL 2024 as a replacement
5. Josh Hazlewood
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood went unsold, which came as a surprise to many. He was released by the RCB ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, and no one was big on him. But Hazlewood is still available to grab, and his current form for Australia has been incredible. With his experience and form, franchises can target him in the middle of the season to replace any injured player.
4. Siddarth Kaul
India’s capped pacer Siddarth Kaul was one notable name that was not signed by any IPL franchise at the auction. Well, IPL teams usually look for an Indian pacer with good experience, and Kaul has all those skills. But unfortunately for him, all the slots were filled. He has played 55 games and taken 58 wickets, and he knows how to do well at the IPL level. But still, if needed, he can make a return as an Indian bowler later in the tournament.
3. Kamlesh Nagarkoti
Another Indian pacer who made an interesting entry into his career but went unsold at the recent auction is Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The 24-year-old pacer is one of those Indian pacers who can bowl over 140 km/h consistently. But he couldn’t get many chances in the league, which is why he was unsold at the IPL 2024 auction. However, with the skillset he brings, he can come in as a replacement at any time.
2. Raj Limbani
If you have followed the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 closely, where India finished as runners-up after losing to Australia in the final, then you should know about Raj Limbani. The 19-year-old pacer, who is known for his speed and swing, bowled an exceptional spell of 3/38 in the final and finished with 11 wickets in six games. He impressed everyone with his speed, and he is also a decent power-hitter. Already, two players from the current India’s U19 batch will make their debuts in the IPL 2024, and Raj Limbani can be the third.
1. Adil Rashid
Not every team has a good spinner, and that may be a problem in the coming season. Veteran English spinner Adil Rashid, who was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad, was not picked by any team at the IPL 2024. But not to forget, he is the No. 1 ranked T20I bowler and has been a prime spinner for England. So if needed, Rashid can come in as a replacement later on in the tournament.
