CSK vs RCB Highlights, IPL 2024
Batting first, RCB were off to a flying start as the skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli put up a partnership of 41 runs for the first wicket in 4.3 overs. Du Plessis scored a quickfire 35 runs off 23 balls hitting eight boundaries. However, the momentum completely shifted towards CSK after Mustafizur Rehman took 2 wickets in the fifth over dismissing Du Plessis and Rajat Patidar in a gap of three balls. After that, Deepak Chahar struck in the very next over dismissing Glenn Maxwell for a Golden duck. Kohli tried to take the innings further but he also fell into Rehman’s trap and ended up giving a catch to Rachin Ravindra at deep-mid wicket in the 12th over after scoring 21 runs off 20 balls hitting one maximum.
Just two deliveries later after Kohli’s wicket, RCB lost their fifth wicket in the form of Cameron Green who got out after scoring 18 runs off 22 balls. After that, Dinesh Kartihk and Anuj Rawat took charge of the innings and saved RCB from a collapse. Both Karthik and Rawat put up a partnership of 95 runs for the sixth wicket with Rawat getting run out on the last ball of the innings after scoring 48 runs off 25 balls hitting four fours and three sixes, while Karthik remained unbeaten on 38 runs off 26 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Coming to chase the winning total for CSK, the new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravnidra added 38 runs for the first wicket in four overs before Gaikwad lost his wicket to Yash Dayal after scoring a run-a-ball 15 runs. After that Ravindra put up another small but effective 33-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane before getting out in the seventh over after scoring a quickfire 37 runs off 15 balls. CSK lost Rahane (27 off 19) and Daryl Mitchell (22 off 18) in next six overs and the score was reduced to 110 for 4 after 12.3 overs. After that, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja put up an unbeaten partnership of 66 runs and ended up winning the game for CSK.
Jadeja remained unbeaten on 25 runs off 17 balls, while Dube (34* off 28) hit a winning boundary off Alzarri Joseph in the 19th over as the defending champions started off their IPL 2024 campaign with a win. Mustafizur Rehman was adjudged Player of the Match for his spell of 4/29.
