The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) has finally come to an end, and Kolkata Knight Riders went on to win the tournament. Shreyas Iyer led KKR to their third title, and they have been the best team in the competition. They beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai to clinch the title.
It was a high-scoring tournament, and fans were treated to some extra-ordinary performances. Some big scores were posted throughout the season, and the IPL 2024 has certainly changed the mindset of the teams for playing in T20 cricket. There were some big records that tumbled during the tournament. Here, we will talk about some of the all-time records that got broken during the IPL 2024.

1. Most 200+ Totals in an IPL Season
The IPL 2024 was a high-scoring competition. Teams were scoring 200 or more for fun. In the first inning, teams were also going past the 200-run mark while chasing as well. Last season, a total of 37 times the score of 200 or more was breached. But that record has been broken. A total of 41 times, a team scored 200+ totals in the IPL 2024. This is a record, and it is the first time so many 200+ totals were registered in a single season. Adding to that, 8 times a team scored 250 or more in 2024.
2. Highest IPL total
Before the IPL 2024, the record for the highest IPL total was with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, when they scored 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in 2013. But that score was shifted to fifth place, as four times a team crossed this mark. Sunrisers Hyderabad posted the highest IPL total of 287/3 against RCB, which is a new record now.
3. Highest Successful IPL chase
Rajasthan Royals held the record for the highest IPL chase earlier. They chased down the score of 226/6 against Punjab Kings in 2020. But that record was broken by Punjab Kings when they chased down 262/2 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. With this, PBKS chased down the highest total, not just in the IPL but in all T20 cricket (domestic or international).
4. Most Sixes hit in a single IPL season
The IPL 2024 saw batters hitting the sixes with ease. Many batters showed their blistering mode, and bowlers were running for cover. This season saw a huge number of sixes hit throughout the season, which broke all previous records. Earlier, the previous record was 1124 sixes in the 2023 edition, but the IPL 2024 has taken it over. A total of 1260 sixes were hit in 2024, which is the most ever in a single season. It is almost 17–18 sixes per match, which is just unbelievable.
5. Highest T20 match Aggregate
There were three games where more than 500 runs were scored, which caught the attention of the whole world. However, match No. 30 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru raised the bar very high. This match saw both teams score 260+. SRH posted the highest IPL total of 287/3, while RCB replied with a score of 262/7. A total of 549 runs were scored in this game, which is the highest total in a T20 match (domestic or international).
6. Most Sixes in a T20 Match
Not just runs, even sixes, were hit consistently in this tournament. Hence, the IPL now holds the record for the most sixes in a T20 match (domestic or international) ever. The game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens saw a total of 42 sixes, which is four more than the previous record between SRH vs MI in Hyderabad.
