India are all set to host the upcoming ODI World Cup after 12 years. The last time India hosted the tournament in 2011, they went on to become the champions. Now Rohit Sharma and his men will be looking to repeat the same heroics to clinch the title for the third time, and also win an ICC tournament after 10 years.
The Indian cricket team is also in great form currently as they recently clinched the Asia Cup for the eighth time after defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final in Colombo on 17th September. The Indian bowlers bowled Sri Lanka out for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs, powered by the deadly spell by Mohammed Siraj (6/21) which completely destroyed the Sri Lankan batting line-up.
India will be looking to continue the winning momentum in the upcoming tournament and will be the favorites to lift the cup being the host nation. However, after winning the Champions Trophy in 2013, India haven’t been able to win another major international trophy. They always enter the tournament as favorites and play immensely well throughout the campaign, but somehow lose their momentum in big games like semi final or final and end up losing the championship.
