The defending champions England are all set to clinch the title once again in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. England will kickstart the tournament with a match against New Zealand on 5th October. Notably England defeated New Zealand in the final of the previous edition to clinch their maiden World Cup title in front of their home crowd at the historic Lords Cricket Ground.
Now, England will be looking to reclaim their status as World Champions for which they selected a strong squad for the upcoming tournament. The main highlight of England’s squad is the return of Ben Stokes to the ODI team. Stokes was England’s main man during the 2019 final, who anchored England’s chase against New Zealand and took the match to the super over. However, Stokes announced his retirement from ODIs in July 2022, but now has reversed his decision after discussion with the team management and has been included in England’s World Cup squad.

Conclusion: World Cup Team Australia 2023 Squad
With the perfect combination of young talents and the senior players, and the return of Ben Stokes in the squad, it is clear that England don’t wanna give back the trophy they are holding. We have seen that in the last few years, England changed the way of playing ODI cricket. However, it won’t be easy for the Three Lions to fully execute their plans in India with more spin friendly pitches.
