Soumya Sarkar is a left hand batter and known for his all rounding skills. He was the man who invented the Periscope shot which is used in counter bouncers. At early stages, Soumya wanted to be a teacher, like his father. But destiny took him to Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan and from there, he found interest in cricket and started weaving dreams.
He played two Under-19 matches in 2012 and 2014 where he impressed selectors through his outstanding innings. Later, he played his first ODI match in the final match against Zimbabwe in December 2014, in which he scored 20 off 18 balls. Next year, he made his first Test Debut against Pakistan, in which he scored above 35 runs in each inning. Additionally, Soumya played a total of 75 ODI matches and scored 2198 runs with an average of 33.30.
