It is unfortunate for a batsman to get out on zero. In a big tournament like the ICC Champions Trophy, when stakes are high, batting under pressure is common. Also, a legal delivery may crash the batting strategy when a talented bowler attempts to trap the player. Let’s look at those batsmen who could not survive on the crease and got out on a duck in the Champions Trophy.
Australian star batter and all-rounder Shane Watson who played in Champions Trophy from 2002 to 2013, got out on duck four times. Although Watson has tremendous records in the history of cricket, he failed to impress with his bat in the Champions Trophy while playing the role of an opener. In 17 ODI matches, the bowlers blocked him from playing massive innings four times and registered the record for most ducks in the champions trophy.
This disastrous moment also happened to be with former impulsive batter in the Bangladesh team Habibul Bashar who was declared out on duck thrice. The former cricketers known for their classic batting such as Nathan Astle from New Zealand, Shoaib Malik from Pakistan, and Sanath Jayasuriya from Sri Lanka also could not stand on the crease longer as they went back to the pavilion without scoring a run three times. It is disappointing for the batsman and the team as each run counts in every match.
