The five-time champions Australia are all set to play their eighth ODI World Cup final after registering a thrilling victory against South Africa in the second semi-final of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in Kolkata. Now, they will take on the hosts India for the title clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 19th November.
It won’t be an easy task for Australia against the in-form India team who is coming after 10 straight wins in the tournament. However, Australia have also shown great form with eight consecutive wins after losing their first two games of the tournament. So it is expected to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller between the two best teams of the tournament.
The Australian batters have been in tremendous form in this tournament with the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Glenn Maxwell. Among all these batters, Maxwell turned out to be dangerous in a couple of matches for Australia and has broken number records. He scored the fastest century in ODI World Cup as he reached the triple figures in just 40 balls against the Netherlands in Delhi. If it wasn’t enough, he came out to play one of the best ODI knocks after he smashed an unbeaten 201 runs with an injured leg against Afghanistan in Mumbai. He played that knock when Australia were struggling at 91 for 7 while chasing a target of 292 runs.
