The Indian domestic League for red ball Cricket, Duleep Trophy 2024 is set to fly high on 5th September. This will be the 61st edition of the Duleep Trophy hosted at the Anantapur for the very first time.
This year the BCCI has also changed the format of the Duleep Trophy which was previously based on six different Zones of India – North, South, East, West, Central, and North-East. For the Duleep Trophy 2024-2025, BCCI selected players and put them into four teams A, B, C, and D.
All four teams will compete with each other once in a round-robin stage which contains a total of 6 Test matches. Like other cricket leagues, there will be no knockout matches or playoffs, and the final winner will be based on the highest points in the league stage.
The Duleep Trophy is one of the oldest Indian Test Domestic Leagues and has been running since 1961. The previous edition of Duleep Trophy 2023 was won by the South Zone which defeated the West Zone by 75 runs. The next season of Duleep Trophy 2024 will run for 17 days from 5th September to 22nd September where 4 teams will partake rather than six zonal teams.

Duleep Trophy 2024 Schedule
According to the official website of the BCCI, except for the season-opening match all the matches will be hosted by the domestic stadiums of the Anantapur.
The Season opener for the Duleep Trophy 2024 is scheduled to be hosted at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. There will be a total of 6 league matches and no knockouts or final games in this season. The table topper of the Duleep Trophy 2024 will be the winner of this edition.

Duleep Trophy 2024 Captain
Rather than playing based on the Zonal, BCCI has changed the Duleep Trophy 2024 format into four teams- A, B, C, and D. All these four teams will be led by the top players from the regulated Team India or class Cricket.
First comes Team A, which is going to be led by the Indian star opener Shubman Gill who will lead a team that includes Kuldeep Yadav, Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel some of the top Indian players.
Then we have Ruturaj Gaikwad who will lead Team C and then Shreyas Iyer will be the skipper of Team D in the Duleep Trophy 2024. Speaking of Abhimanyu Easwaran, captain of team B is the only uncapped player among the other captains of the Duleep Trophy 2024 teams.
