6 Ball 6 Wicket Record List: List of Bowlers to Take 6 Wickets in an over in Cricket History 

You must be aware of 6 ball 6 six, a rare phenomenon by the batter. But for a bowler to deliver an absolutely perfect over with 6 wickets only happens once in a blue moon. During the history of cricket, bowlers have registered many records including their best bowling figures. But can a bowler scalp six wickets in an over for real? Sounds so incredible and impossible, right?

But in history, some bowlers scalped 6 balls and 6 wickets with such ease and perfection. Aussie Club cricketer Aled Carey is the very first bowler who took six wickets in an over. Aled Carey recorded his name as the first bowler who scalped six balls and six wickets in cricket history. In this blog, we have enlisted all the bowlers who have performed this rare event during their cricket career. 

6 Ball 6 Wickets in the International Cricket

Not a single bowler has scalped 6 wickets in a single over in International cricket yet. 

1. Shane Warne vs World XI (WI and SA) in 2005-2006

Shane Warne is the only International bowler who scalped six wickets in an over in Test Cricket. In 2005-2006, Shane Warne took six wickets across both innings in the only Test against the World XI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. 

Six Ball Six Wickets in the Professional Cricket

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, only three bowlers have taken the most wickets in a single over in Professional Cricket. 

1. Neil Wagner vs Wellington ( 2011) – 5 Wickets 

In April 2011, New Zealand bowler Neil Wagner took 5 wickets and one dot ball for Otago against Wellington in the Plunket Shield at the Queenstown Events Centre, New Zealand. 

2. Al-Amin Hossain vs Abahani Limited (2013) – 5 wickets 

In 2013, Bangladeshi pacer Al-Amin Hossain scalped 5 wickets and 2 runs for the  UCB-BCB XI against Abahani Limited in the Victory Day T20 Cup at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh. 

3. Abhimanyu Mithun vs Haryana (2019) – 5 wickets

In 2019, Indian bowler Abhimanyu Mithun scalped the most 5 wickets in a single over for Karnataka during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Surat, India.

Bowlers who took 6 wickets in an over in the Club Cricket 

1. Aled Carey vs East Ballarat (2017) – 6 wickets in an over

Aussie bowler Aled Carey is the man who recorded this rare feat for the first time in history. 6 ball, 6 wicket is one of those dreams every bowler has in their life. For Aled Carey, it was a dream come true moment when he scalped 6 wickets in an over for Golden Point against East Ballarat in 2017. After 8 overs, Carey delivered his 9th over and dismantled the team in just six balls finishing his inning with 6 wickets for 20 runs. 

2. Gareth Morgan vs Surfers Paradise (2023) – 6 wickets in 6 balls

Another Aussie bowler Gareth Morgan bagged 6 wickets in just a single over in the Club cricket. In the 2023 Gold Coast’s Premier League Division 3 match of Mudgeeraba Cricket Club vs Surfers Paradise, Captain Gareth Morgan clinched the victory from the Surfers’ jaw while rampaging with his destructive bowling taking 6 wickets in just one over. Gareth’s first four wickets were all catches while he bowled the last two wickets and led Mudgeeraba towards victory. 

3. Oliver Whitehouse vs Cookhill (2019)

12-year-old Oliver Whitehouse is the youngest bowler in the world with a record of double hat trick in a single over. In 2023, Oliver Whitehouse scalped 6 wickets for the Bromsgrove Cricket Club against Cookhill during a cricket club fixture.  

4. Virandeep Singh vs Push Sports Club (2022)

Malaysian XI All-Rounder Virandeep Singh scalped six wickets in a single over in Nepal 2022. It was the first time when 6 wickets in six balls were televised in cricket history. Virandeep Singh registered this amazing feat against Push Sports Club during the Fantasy Akhada Pro Club Championships.  

Indian Bowler who took 6 wickets in an over in the Domestic Cricket

1. Harshit Seth vs  Hyderabad Hawks Academy RCG (2021)

Indian-origin Harshit Seth, a spinner from Dubai bagged a 6-wicket haul in the Under-19 Karwan Global Twenty20 League tournament. While playing for the Dubai Cricket Council Starlets, Harshit Seth took 6 wickets in a single over against Pakistan side Hyderabad Hawks Academy RCG in 2021. 

2. Laxman Kamble in (Tennis Cricket -2022)

During a Tennis Cricket Tournament, Indian bowler Laxman Kamble also recorded a rare feat of 6 wickets in a single over in 2022.
